Capote 1966: A Year In Black and White

MONROEVILLE, AL – April 2, 2011 - The Southern Literary Trail and Monroe County Heritage Museum invite you to experience the extraordinary genius of Truman Capote as noted speakers John Hafner, Don Noble & Ralph Voss present CAPOTE 1966: A YEAR IN BLACK AND WHITE.The program will focus on the year in which Capote enjoyed the tremendous success of his masterpiece In Cold Blood and his Manhattan social triumph, the highly successful Black and White Ball at the Plaza Hotel. A reception and exclusive showing of the Maysles’ (famous for “Grey Gardens”) 1966 film “To Truman With Love” will follow. Program will begin at 4:00 pm, with the film at 6:30 pm in the Old Courthouse Museum. This event is co-sponsored by the Alabama Humanities Foundation, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.FREE ADMISSION. Will Legislature change Alabama tenure law?

Teacher tenure and job protection for other school workers has been controversial in Alabama for years.
Some school systems don't even try to get rid of bad teachers because the process is too complicated, lengthy and expensive. Some members of the Alabama Legislature have vowed to change the teacher tenure law to make it easier to get rid of those bad teachers.
